This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Time of Music festival and Summer Academy. In July 2022 we will celebrate from 5th to 11th July with a longer festival than normally and with an exceptionally rich festival program.
The summer academy 2022 to be held during the festival will include a total of four courses. In addition to the traditional composition course, there will be an instrumental course for accordion, an interdisciplinary and collaborative course in composed theater, and a course on curating diversity in contemporary music. The course on curatorship in contemporary music is the first of its kind in Finland, and the teachers for all courses are top international professionals in the field. More detailed information on the courses will be published in the coming weeks.
Italian composer Mauro Lanza will be the teacher of the summer academy’s composition course. Students will work on the course with the festival’s residency ensembles, and the compositions completed during the course will have their premiere at the final concert of the course. The deadline of applications for the composer course is 6th March.
The Time of Music 2022 will host an exceptional number of interesting both domestic and international premieres, as well as significant guest artists from Europe and the United States. The entire festival program will be published at the turn of May-June.
