The Summer Academy of Viitasaari Time of Music festival has published the summer courses 2021. The registration is open from 1st April to 2nd of May.
Summer Academy offers two courses in summer 2021. Coronavirus safety directives from national authorities will be carefully followed when implementing the courses and the festival programme .
Rebellion for Sale is a laboratory for performing arts and the first summer course in Viitasaari which is intended not only for musicians and composers, but also for other performing and creative artists as for example dancers, circus performers, actors, writers or performance artists among many others.
The contemporary and experimental music theatre director, dramaturge and curator Michael Höppner from Opera Lab Berlin and composer Brigitta Muntendorf, well known for her collaborative pieces involving other art forms, will tutor the laboratory of interdisciplinary artistic interplay and cooperation course that focuse on practical experimentation and collaborative reflection with participants. In the end of the course collaborative working culminates in show of the prepared performances.
Contemporary Chamber Music course is tutored by leading award winning Finnish musicians of their generation, known of their fertile work with contemporary music and composers. Tristero Piano Trio, violinist Eriikka Maalismaa, cellist Markus Hohti and pianist Emil Holmström, with guitarist Petri Kumela guide the students with both solo and ensemble lessons. The course ends with a public concert.
Collaborative Music Creation online course with Sandeep Bhagwati and Catherine Milliken is unfortunately postponed. The Curating Diversity course announced for summer 2020 has been rescheduled for summer 2022.
