In the concert, the masterclass participants will perform open-form ensemble works by four iconic composer-improvisers, which the course has been exploring in depth during the week at Viitasaari. The course will feature composer Annea Lockwood as a guest mentor. Together with the composer, they will create a performance of Lockwood’s improvisation-based ensemble work bayou-borne, which was composed in 2016 in honor of Pauline Oliveros. The course will be taught by contemporary music and flute superstar Claire Chase.
