This year’s Time of Music will be started by diving into the music of the animal world and the sounds created by their movements. New York-based Yarn/Wire top quartet performs Lisa Streich’s Orchestra of Black Butterflies, where two pianos depict butterflies. The pianos are tuned to a slightly different pitch and they have motorized parts, which creates a unique soundscape of the movements of the wings. In the second half of the concert, Danish-Norwegian composer, Simon Løffler offers an experience with his work Animalia Cycle, in which the ten-part series introduces the music produced by the movements of small and large animal figures. What kind of sound do the movements of animals or, for example, the wings of a bird produce as musical extensions of the human body?
